There are a few things to check when this problem occurs.
The first thing to do is to sign into WebSTAC or WebFAC with your WUSTL key. If you are unable to log into WebSTAC or WebFAC, most likely there is a problem with the username or password associated with your WUSTL key, and you should contact WUSTL Connect for help (http://connecthelp.wustl.edu/Pages/GettingStarted.aspx).
If you are able to log into WebSTAC, the next thing to check would be to see if you are registered for classes for the next semester. For instance, if you are an graduate student, and you are trying to log into the proxy over the summer, the system may not log you in if you have not successfully registered for Fall classes.
Information regarding Virtual Private Networks (VPNs):
A Virtual Private Network (VPN) is a way of securely accessing campus networks from off-campus; however, VPNs are not compatible with WU Libraries proxy access at this time (Fall 2019).
