Searching Nexis Uni:

Searching Nexis Uni can be tricky, but these tips should improve your search experience.

The easiest and best tip is to begin your search on the Advanced Search interface.

NexisUni Choosing Advanced Search Screen

Advanced Search offers many options for filtering and limiting your results:

  1. First, when searching for NEWS articles specifically, apply the NEWS filter. (See screenshot below.)

NexisUni Advanced Search Screen           2. Narrow your Search Parameters:

  • Headline Search: Keywords search the full-text of articles by default; consider limiting your keyword search to document titles only for more precise results.
  • Date Range: Specify a date range; otherwise, the default is 2 years, which usually retrieves far too many results
  • Word Limits: Applying word count parameters for your results can help filter you eliminate very brief articles.
  • A Specific Publication: If you want to limit to a specific publication - begin typing title of publication and choose from the results (see examples below)
