On Oct. 28, 1967, The Yardbirds, along with the Ramsey Lewis Trio (“The In Crowd”), played the Field House as part of the University’s Homecoming festivities. The gymnasium there featured two stages in opposite corners of the gym. While the Ramsey Lewis Trio enjoyed a modest crowd, students were already gathered en masse near the Yardbirds’ stage waiting for their show to begin. At this time, The Yardbirds featured guitarist Jimmy Page, who would use a violin bow on his electric guitar while playing blues covers such as singer Jake Holmes’ “Dazed and Confused.”” – Rhea, Ryan. “Live at Wash.
