Depending on the time period when the student graduated, some resources are available online:

The Alumni Catalog of 1917  lists all graduates of the University from 1857 - 1916, so if you are looking for someone in the very earliest years of the 20th Century try this.

Commencement Programs for select years are available in the University Archive Digital Materials under "Commencement History." 

You can also try searching the library catalog for the student's name to see if they completed a thesis (or for undergraduates a senior paper). 

If it you do not locate the information online, University Archives can assist you in locating other original sources -- including campus directories, other commencement programs, and yearbooks.
